Alex builds the power needed to win news policies at the local, state and national levels that serve communities’ information needs. He plays a key role in overseeing, deepening and growing the Media Power Collaborative — a Free Press-led coalition that brings together local-journalism innovators, academic experts and grassroots organizers to learn how organizing can change the media system. He also responds to legislation moving at all levels of government, working closely with allied organizations, legislative staff and other key stakeholders. Prior to joining Free Press, Alex worked at The Boston Globe as a correspondent before pivoting fully into political advocacy. Most recently, he spent almost four years at the Friends Committee on National Legislation as the communications strategist. He holds a B.A. in journalism from Northeastern University.
