Kent Causer's Story
Boarding Pass to the World

The internet is a very valuable tool that helps bring people, their ideas, ideals and dreams together. We need to keep it free for the same reason that we live in this country and no where else in the world. America is a place of diverse unity and cultural growth. People meet new friends on the internet that they may never meet but it helps them feel connected to each other. People make business arrangements and share communiques that help them grow and expand to be part of the local and global communities. People fall in love and talk to their loved ones on the internet.
This is America’s last frontier and we should not charge people to explore and create it into the greatest amalgamation of thought and interaction that has ever been created by man.

Should we tax the wives of our troops for communicating with their husbands? Should we tax Grandma Mildred in Witchta Falls, Texas for trying to talk to her grand kids in Austin, Texas? Should we tax Conan’s local pizza parlor for having a website with their menu on it? Should we tax Sarah Clark, age 11, for learning about soccer teams (football) in England? No we should not! We should continue to keep this tool tax free for all. Information is a gift that help us all when we need it most.

Keep the gates open. The only way we can continue to grow and expand our knowledge of the world and ourselves is by keeping things like the internet open for all to contribute and explore.

I study new websites about people, places, religions, art, small business practices, sports, and politics. Every week I am on the internet I hear new words and ideas that I go and explore. I believe this would only hurt people like myself who don’t make enough money to pay for another tax. I am burgeoning photographer, Texas wildflowers, who can’t afford to pay anymore money to upkeep my website that I would like to turn into a profession. Currently, I am working for an internet service provider so I have some idea of what this would do to the nature of American internet while the rest of the world would remain tax free. Don’t close the gates to this boarding pass to the world and each other. Freedom of Speech is our RIGHT not a paid for public privilege.
