Norie's Story
Don't take the little bit of freedom we have left
photo
There are enough media mediums that deliver the information that corporate America wants America’s citizens to hear and read. The internet is the only medium (that I know of) that allows the “average joe” to look for the information and entertainment that he or she chooses. Day after day we are fed this processed information that has been clearly picked by others to make us believe what they want us to believe. Day after day we see the TV shows and listen to music that most of the people like, but that mean nothing to the rest of us.

Currently the media is not diverse at all and the only option I have found to escape from it has been the internet. If the internet is controlled by powerful people with money, will it ever be what it has been? Will we be able to enjoy diversity? Will I be able to start my own business over the internet? Will I be able to show my creations to other people who are not interested on what is in the malls? Will I be able to listen to the music I like which will never ever play on the radio? Will I be able to meet people from other countries or keep in touch with the ones I already know?
Sometimes there are things that matter more than money does, but even if you consider the economy, there are a lot of people who depend on the internet to support their families or make a living. People like me have an option to work for themselves and not have to fit into the corporate America standards to survive.
Please protect the internet, diversity, the little bit of freedom we have left.
