Keeping in touch with children

Net Neutrality is essential to free speech, equal opportunity and economic innovation on the Web. Since 2005, phone and cable companies have tried to establish themselves as the Internet’s gatekeepers and to discriminate against Web sites and services that they don’t like.

This fundamental change would end the open Internet as we know it. It would damage my ability to connect with others, share information and participate in our democracy and economy. Congress and the FCC must ensure that broadband providers do not block, interfere with or discriminate against my Internet choices. The future of the free-flowing Web depends upon it.

Since I'm on a fixed income, I cannot afford travel. The only way to keep in touch with my kids and grands, is the internet. I also do research. Choices must not be limited by cable and phone companies. Also, the Main Stream Media news we receive is shallow and biased. Citizens must have other resources to know what's happening in our world. News should not be decided by cable and phone companies.

Free Press is a national, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization working to reform the media. Through education, organizing and advocacy, we promote diverse and independent media ownership, strong public media, quality journalism, and universal access to communications.
