Internet--last bastion of free speech

When the Supreme Court in 1976 established that money contributions constitute "speech", the voice of We, the People was pushed into background noise as corporate donors co-opted our legislatures with volumes of "speech" in the form of big money contributions.

Now the FCC is being asked to allow those who already dominate "speech" to be able to control the flow of free speech in the last bastion of free exchange of information--the internet.

Mass media blocks out We, the People's concerns to promote the military-industrial-media-pharma agenda.

Has the FCC been "bought" also? What's next? Regulating the air we breathe?

George Orwell's predictions are here and now. Sinclair Lewis warned us: It Can Happen Here!

You of the FCC are a turning agency toward the fully controlled society--or preserving the ideals of this nation of freedom.

If corruption and control of what can be known and shared is enshrined, freedom falls for all mankind.

Will We, the People "own" the internet through our unrestricted access--or will the big plum be handed over to corporatists who already "own" our government?

Free Press is a national, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization working to reform the media. Through education, organizing and advocacy, we promote diverse and independent media ownership, strong public media, quality journalism, and universal access to communications.
