Leave us this freedom

I was one of the first graphic designers online back in 1994. I have seen the Internet grow and develop into one of the most wonderful technological miracle of my life. The ability to connect with others, to find any information I need within seconds, to learn anything I want, has been a dream come true for me.

As a designer and artist, the Internet has provided me with an endless flow of inspiration by giving me access to artists and designers' sites. Not the greatest, biggest advertising and gallery websites online, but simple websites showcasing artist's work that I would never have had access to before. They may be in a little town in Florida or in the middle of New York City, but they are independently showing their art. In an age where artists have lost gallery spaces due to the fact that galleries are now these powerful centers catering only to the rich and disregarding the need for up and coming artists of the next generation to exhibit their work, the Internet is giving them this opportunity. Add that with the loss of all our art departments in our public schools due to funding and you have a terrible blow to our culture. Don't make it even worse.

Please leave us at least one freedom!
