I do not trust TV news or the US news media

American citizens no longer have access to accurate information about government policy. "News" now consists of celebrity gossip and the corporate point of view to the exclusion of all else. Only through alternative news sources representing many points of view do I feel I can discover what is going on, and much of this is only available from other countries. Without the Internet there is no possibility that American citizens can get the sort of critical examination of public issues that is necessary to a functioning democracy. I for one do not care to hear about Paris Hilton or whoever the current hot celeb happens to be, and I resent the fact that news media and corporate power wish to shut off my access to anything else.
