Freedom of Information on Web

The Internet is now the last place to find open and honest news reporting. It is the last place to access the free flow of ideas and opinions. It is a source of communication between ALL people, regardless of wealth and corporate connections. The phone and cable companies have no business making decisions about which of these sources deserves preferential treatment. The political interests supported by these companies must certainly have an interest in controlling the information that citizens receive.

Free Press is a national, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization working to reform the media. Through education, organizing and advocacy, we promote diverse and independent media ownership, strong public media, quality journalism, and universal access to communications.

The Free Press Action Fund is member-supported. We don't take money from government, political parties or businesses. Member contributions fuel our work lobbying Congress and the FCC, filing lawsuits and legal complaints, and aggressively advocating for real changes in media policymaking that benefit the public.
