I built my career on the internet
I cannot be more outraged by the "big companies" trying to suck more money out of their public even though they are pocketing billions in revenue every year. The revolution of the internet and it's open-table has created an enormous wave of opportunity for ideas, sharing of information, and launching of millions of businesses who otherwise would have never received the exposure they have now.
I myself am a web developer and designer who, well, makes a living off of using the internet and gaining access to information quickly. I taught myself my skill set by researching and learning on the internet by gaining knowledge from hundreds of sources. I'm currently in a great job making a fantastic salary for being only 23 and I owe it all to the internet and it's idea of open and shared information. I even helped set up many of these small business websites in order to sell products and watched them take off successfully.
Putting up tolls and limiting access to businesses that aren't able to fork over the extra fees will guaranteed to be put out of business. So much opportunity will be missed by this.
I'm already paying to use a service that allows me access to any information I want. I choose those types of information sources because not only do I simply have that right, but because they help me in my day-to-day routine.
Bottom line is the phone companies have had record profits and there is truly no benefit of this other than putting already extra cash into the pockets of the Big-3. They simply see this as a greedy means of gaining more money and control.
I urge yourself to keep net neutrality in place. Thank you very much.
