  • In Minnesota, Hundreds Urge FCC to Protect Net Neutrality

It was standing room only at South High in Minneapolis on Thursday night as more than 750 people turned out to show their support for Net Neutrality and free speech online. FCC Commissioners Michael Copps and Mignon Clyburn listened to hours of impassioned public testimony about the future of the Internet.

  • Latino Freedom is Internet Freedom

August 25, 2010 by Jenn Ettinger

If you haven’t already, take a few minutes to read this piece that ran today in the Washington Post. Really, do it. I’ll wait. This is me waiting.

“How the Minerals Management Service’s partnership with industry led to failure” is a play-by-play of how lax government regulation and industry-written rules led to the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, and brought a U.S. government agency to its knees. It eerily foreshadows where the Federal Communications Commission could be headed if Chairman Julius Genachowski doesn’t stand up to the industry he is in charge of overseeing.

Obama On Net Neutrality

"…Because most Americans only have a choice of only one or two broadband carriers, carriers are tempted to impose a toll charge on content and services, discriminating against websites that are unwilling to pay for equal treatment."

"…Because most Americans only have a choice of only one or two broadband carriers, carriers are tempted to impose a toll charge on content and services, discriminating against websites that are unwilling to pay for equal treatment. This could create a two-tier Internet in which websites with the best relationships with network providers can get the fastest access to consumers, while all competing websites remain in a slower lane. Such a result would threaten innovation, the open tradition and architecture of the Internet, and competition among content and backbone providers. It would also threaten the equality of speech through which the Internet has begun to transform American political and cultural discourse."

What's happening to FREEDOM?

Robert Terrell
Austell, GA

Each day I wake up in this fine nation, and cover a normal routine. Check my email, keep up to date with family and friends, read the current happenings within my nation - locally and otherwise, check to see how our troops are doing(the best I can) and maybe find a quick laugh or two. This is my given right as an American citizen, and I generally do all of this within 5 minutes or so.
